Well, it seems like an eternity (3 months) since my friend Vanessa and I decided on a whim to pack up and leave for South America. The trip has since evolved to 2 weeks in Hawaii, 3 months in Central and South America and (for me) 3 months in the UK and Europe with stop off in Bali on the way home.
We finally arrived in Kona, Hawaii after 2 delayed flights, an unplanned $1200 fully refundable plane ticket back Australia, 1 missed flight and a pat down. We left Brisbane at midday 21 Feb and after 20 hrs of travel arrived in Kona at the same day and time. Longest day ever! We've finally managed some sleep and I am about to enjoy a massage - yay! :-)
Slight annoyance at Jetstar for the delayed flights, meaning we missed our Hawaii connection. They also forced the issue around buying a flight out of Hawaii despite US customs not even checking this. Since when is Mexico part of the US anyway? Not to worry, we are finally here and on holidays...yay!! :-)
